01

Set a maximum before the final minutes

Use comparable completed or fixed-price listings to establish a range, then subtract the value of missing evidence, weak returns or likely repair. Include delivery and fees. Your maximum should be a decision made before urgency takes over.

  • Set an all-in ceiling.
  • Do not count an unverified accessory as full value.
  • Leave room for immediate servicing or repair.
02

Interpret activity carefully

Bid count can show interest, but it does not prove value or authenticity. A quiet auction may be overlooked, badly timed or simply unattractive. Treat activity as context alongside the listing itself.

  • Check the exact ending time in your timezone.
  • Review revisions and seller terms.
  • Watch for vague titles that hide an important mismatch.
03

Verify before committing

Save the listing early enough to ask questions. Read photographs and descriptions together, and preserve a copy of the advertised claims where the marketplace allows it.
